Janet qualified in 1989 from the College of Traditional Acupuncture, Leamington Spa, and subsequently studied TCM Acupuncture at The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. She has also completed courses in Low Level Laser Therapy through Acu-Medic, Omega Lasers and the NHS, in conjunction with the BMLA.

She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council and also the British Medical Laser Association.

In 1996 Janet  was invited to join a team treating  both paraplegic and tetraplegic clients using Traditional and Laser Acupuncture, together with LLLT, as part of a complementary and holistic approach to the treatment of paralysis. She now brings this experience with her to Physability, providing a range of acupuncture techniques for paralysing conditions.

In addition to the more obvious problems inherent with paralysis, Acupuncture has been proven to relieve a wide range of underlying constitutional and emotional conditions that affect every day life ~ poor sleep, lost appetite, bowel or bladder malfunctions, together with helping clients to deal with such emotional problems as suppressed anger, shock, grief, fear, sadness, loss or worry.

Thus, by using Acupuncture to help alleviate some of the more fundamental problems, the client is left free to concentrate on their rehabilitation therapy.

Included in her work over the last few years, has been a comprehensive research programme to investigate the effects of a treatment protocol she has evolved. Amongst other benefits this particular treatment regime appears to improve the energy, strength and sensory perception of clients. Through Physability she has embarked on a second study to follow up and consolidate her previous results.

Acupuncture, however, is not the only therapy Janet brings with her. Using her Class 3B Laser she is also brings  Low Level Laser Therapy  which is able to help repair tissue and accelerate wound healing.   Whether it be a bed-sore, ulcer or other open wound, infection, tendon strain, scar tissue, muscle spasm, fracture or wart the unique properties of the Laser can help speed recovery  ~  which, ultimately, leaves the client in a better position to gain the maximum benefit from their time with Physability
.

Since qualifying Janet has not only set up and run her own human practice in Nailsworth, but has also developed a veterinary aspect to her work in close co-ordination with local veterinary practices in and around Gloucestershire.
